While it’s no fun seeing a dry effort like the Flames brought on Tuesday night; you have to feel a bit happy for 25 year old goaltender Adin Hill. One goal against on 38 shots and a whopping two assists in the night. While he was born in Comox, BC — he spent most of his formative years in Calgary. He even played for the Calgary Canucks of the AJHL for a spell before joining the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL.

Things weren’t going great for Adin. He had lost his previous three games and his save percentage was sitting at an ugly .886%. Heading in to play the statistically dominant Calgary Flames while missing four of six defensemen and the team’s top scorer in Timo Meier; it seemed like Hill was getting thrown to the wolves.

Here was his stat line by the end of the night:

3-CA41797-BA93-4-D30-869-A-8-E262-D9408-E1

7 of 8 high danger shots on net saved. 2 of 2 rebound shots saved. The guy had a good night and Calgarians should be happy for him. After a .974% outing, he now is sitting at a more comfortable .904% on the season.

As for the Calgary Flames — If you take away the empty net goals, you’re looking at a 2-1 game decided by a fluke deflection off Nikita Zadorov. The Flames had plenty of chances to take the lead for themselves. They hit four posts as well. The hockey gods simply smiled upon Adin Hill last night.

The Flames begin a seven game road trip tomorrow in Montreal at 5pm MT. The Habs are coming off an OT loss where Adrian Kempe skated two laps around the zone before making a move to get alone in front of the net — They’ll be fired up.

Enjoy your Wednesday,
