Seattle And Their 4 2nd Lines

The Seattle Kraken are now up to 8 straight wins, setting a new franchise record in the short two and a half year existence of the team. Their latest win came against the Washington Capitals in a 4-1 convincing matchup.

For those not familiar with the Kraken's lineup, let's talk about the 2nd line of Kartye-McCann-Burakovsky. Or what about the 2nd line of Tatar-Beniers and Eberle, or the 2nd line of Schwartz-Wennberg-Tanev, or the 2nd line of Tolvanen-Gourde-Bjorkstrand.

"It messes with the other team a little bit. They're like ok we've got four 2nd lines we have to deal with."

That is the quote from Jared McCann. Seattle may not have an elite talent at any position. Make no mistake, they've got some excellent players throughout the lineup and they are winning games because they don't really have any weaknesses in their forward core. The Kartye-McCann-Burakovsky was Seattle's 4th line against the Capitals in terms of 5 on 5 minutes but on any night that line could be a 3rd line, or a 2nd line, or a first line even.

Opposing teams and coaches are struggling with how to matchup against the Kraken. There is no specific line to target to shutdown. If they go after Tatar, Beniers, and Eberle, the Wennberg line will score, if they adjust to that line if it's buzzing, Gourde, Tolvanen, and Bjorkstrand get to work.

Combine all of the with another great performance by Daccord and Seattle continues to push it's way back into a playoff position. Those pesky Oilers continue to go on a similar run, making it difficult to move past them but the Vegas Golden Knights and the LA Kings have both faltered. Suddenly it's not just a Wild Card position on the table for the Kraken, but 2nd or 3rd in the Division are once again contendable.

Seattle continues a long road trip with a game in Columbus on Saturday. The following week they are on the road in a back-to-back situation against the Penguins and Rangers before concluding in Edmonton to take on the Oilers.

I'm looking forward to an entertaining month from this team.
