Yet another former Philadelphia Flyer has fallen to the ravages of cancer as defenseman Bob "Count" Dailey has lost his long battle with the disease and passed away today at his home in Florida at the age of just 63. He joins Ed Snider who passed away in April and Rick MacLeish who did so on Memorial Day as giants of the Orange and Black who have been taken from us in last six months.

Bob Dailey as captain of the 1973 Memorial Cup champion Toronto Marlies

Known as "The Count" for his 6'5" size and penchant for wearing elegant long overcoats that looked like regal robes, he was selected ninth overall in the 1973 Amateur Draft by the Vancouver Canucks from the Memorial Cup champion Toronto Marlboros where he was a teammate of both Mark and Marty Howe as well as veteran NHL coach Bruce Boudreau among other future NHLers. He was traded to the Flyers midway through the 1976-77 season and remained with them through the end of his career which was cut short by injury in 1982.

RIP to the "Count"
