The Stamkos Dive and Jets License Plate in Manitoba

Last night Steven Stamkos took if from the the fans in the MTS Centre despite none of them having seen the the exact camera angle as shown below.

Stamkos Dive

While Stamkos is no Burrows or any other 'diver' as labelled by fans, media or player peers he did what so many are sick of with the game of hockey. The penalty call he 'earned' gave the Lightning a 2 man advantage for almost a 1:30 in the second period and could have easily swung the game back into their favour. Should these kinds of plays be reviewable with action taken after? Would it stop players from attempting embellishment?

After Bogosian took a double minor for holding and unsportsmanlike conduct in the first after he complained a little to vigorously (although hardly a penalty) did the Jets have any chance of pleading their case? This is the exact kind of situation which saw Alex Burrows and Stephan Auger have their famous conversation and the Ron MacLean hatchet job soon after. Diving is not a $1000 fine, it's needs to be more and perhaps a simple one game suspension for the next game if clear and conclusive evidence exists. Something has to change as more and more players are taking off season acting lessons.

The Winnipeg Jets announced a new license plate commemorating the return of the Jets. Team owner Mark Chipman and Premier Greg Selinger were at the MTS Centre to announce the plate and the conditions for acquiring one. These are available through all independent Manitoba Insurance Brokers- contact your local broker if you want one.

The plates will start a WJ0001 and go up. Should demand be so large the 'J' will be dropped and the number series in creased. This past year the public insurer in Manitoba offered Blue bomber plates to commemorate the 80th season of the Winnipeg Football Club. These plates were a limited release of 8000 and sold out quickly and it is expected the demand for Jets plates will exceed 8000.
