The battle of Ontario is just a few hours away from puck drop, but enjoy it Sens fans as Ottawa doesn't face Toronto again until the end of January, with two dates at Ottawa in March and April. For Matt Murray, I'm sure he's glad Ottawa won't be staying rent free in his head either, as Murray once again is injured with the Leafs saying he had groin discomfort at the morning skate. Leaf's fans must have thought Sens' head coach DJ Smith jinxed the former Sens' goaltender when asked about Murray yesterday. "Matt unfortunately in his time here, was injured all the time. Take nothing away from him. He was just hurt all the time.”
Here's Murray's injury history in Ottawa.
3/10/22 Neck
2/15/22 Undisclosed
11/11/21 COVID-19
10/23/21 Head
10/15/21 Illness
4/26/21 Lower Body
2/13/21 Upper body
As for the Sens, no line-up changes for tonight. Personally, I would like to see Brassard slide in for Parker Kelly. He can play all three forward positions and Kelly looked underwhelming again in the first game of the season, just as he did all pre-season.
Ottawa needs to initiate and dictate the pace of this game tonight, and establish a forecheck, something they did very little of against Buffalo after the first period. The PP needs to be much better, and eliminate the cute/fancy stuff as they did against the Sabres. It worked in the pre-season against teams icing half of an NHL squad, but it won't work in the regular season. I will be in the comment section of the blog tonight over the course of the game.
Any score predictions for the game tonight, Sens's fans?!
I'm hopeful Ottawa pulls out a 4-3 win.
Thanks for reading.
