Rejoice Habs fans! In just 3 days, the puck will drop at the Canadiens training camp! Yesterday, the Canadiens revealed the list of the players who have been invited to training camp. Unsurprisingly, the list is shorter than what we’re used to, a rather short camp and no exhibition games explain this change. Here are the 42 players who received an invite:

As you can see, some players who would have attended a normal training camp have been omitted: Josh Brook, Arsen Khisamutdinov, Cam Hillis, Michael Pezetta, Hayden Verbeek, Jesse Ylonen (who will keep playing with his Finnish team until there is a definite plan for the AHL’s season) and Raphael Harvey-Pinard. The AHL did announce that it would start its activities on February 5th but there are still details to be worked out. As for Alexandre Alain he has mutually agreed with the organization to terminate his contract as he wants to reconsider his future as a professional hockey player and perhaps go back to studying.
As for the schedule, the players will go through the traditional physical evaluation on January 3rd and from the 4th, there will be 2 on ice training session per day, one for each group (aside from January 7th and January 8th). There will be 2 intra-squad games on Thursday the 7th at 11:00 AM and on Sunday the 10th at 7:00 PM. There are no indications yet as to the possibility of those being broadcasted but I’m sure RDS is all over that. The players will have a day off on January 8th. As today is the last day of this truly awful year, I’d like to wish you all a happy new year filled with normality. A new year in which we’ll be able to go to the restaurant, the movies or to the arena to catch a game. I know it won’t be from day 1, but it’s coming, hang in there. And no, I did not say the traditional “healthy year”, come on we all said it last year and look where it got us…
Fans du Canadien réjouissez-vous! Le camp d’entraînement commencera dans 3 petits jours! Hier, le CH a dévoilé la liste des 42 jours qui ont été invité au camp. Sans surprise, c’est une liste plus courte que dans un camp normal, après tout, c’est un camp écourté sans aucun match hors-concours. Voici les 42 joueurs qui fouleront la glace à Brossard :

Comme vous pouvez le constater, certains joueurs qui auraient normalement participé au camp brille par leur absence: Josh Brook, Arsen Khisamutdinov, Cam Hillis, Michael Pezetta, Hayden Verbeek, Jesse Ylonen (qui continuera à jouer avec son équipe finlandaise en attendant que le retour de la AHL soit coulé dans le béton) et Raphael Harvey-Pinard. La ligue Américaine a annoncé qu’elle compte effectivement reprendre ses activités le 5 février mais de nombreux détails restent à finaliser. Quant à Alexandre Alain, il s’est entendu avec l’organisation pour mettre fin à son contrat. Alain reconsidère présentement son futur en temps que joueur de hockey professionnel et voudrait peut-être retourner aux études.
Quant à l’horaire du camp, les joueurs subiront les traditionnels tests physiques le 3 janvier et à partir du 4, il y aura deux séances d’entraînement sur glace par jour, une pour chaque groupe (sauf les 7 et 8 janvier). Il y aura deux matchs intra-équipe le jeudi 7 janvier à 11:00 AM et le dimanche 10 janvier à 7:00 PM. Il n’y a pas encore de détails à savoir si ces deux matchs seront diffuses mais je parierais que RDS est déjà sur le dossier. Les joueurs bénéficieront d’une journée de congé le 8 janvier. Puisqu’aujourd’hui est la dernière journée de cette année de misère, je vous souhaite une bonne et heureuse année remplie de normalité. Une nouvelle année dans laquelle nous pourrons aller au restaurant, au cinéma ou à l’aréna pour voir des matchs. Je sais, ça ne sera pas dès le départ mais ça s’en vient, on ne lâche pas! Et non, je n’ai pas ajouté le traditionnel « bonne santé », on se l’a tous souhaité l’an passé et on a vu ce que ça a donnée…
