With the combatants finally locked into their spots thanks to a Golden Knights win over the Stars on Monday night, the wait for the start of the 2023 Stanley Cup Final is almost over.
In the West, it'll be the Golden Knights representing the conference for the second time in their franchise's history, and for the first time since their improbable run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2018. Led by first-year Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy and top-line center Jack Eichel made their push to their second Finals appearance with series victories over the Jets, Oilers, and Stars.
The Golden Knights fell to the Capitals in five games in their only Cup Final appearance.
Meanwhile, the East will be represented by the ultimate underdog Panthers, who thumped the Bruins, Maple Leafs, and Hurricanes on their way to their first Finals appearance since 1996.
With Matthew Tkachuk leading the bus as Florida's top on-ice threat, the Panthers are looking for their first Stanley Cup in franchise history.
