Rick Nash's name has come up in trade rumors a lot of late and it seems like all but a certainty he'll be traded prior to the deadline.

In this edition of the hotstove, we share our thoughts on which team would be the best fit for Nash.

Todd Cordell

The Dallas Stars.

They could use a little more scoring pop on the wings and Nash would give them that.

Like many New York Rangers, he's not having his best season but he's still on pace for close to 25 goals and is tied for 28th in the league in scoring chances at 5v5.

He's also a very capable penalty killer and we all know how much Ken Hitchcock likes 200-foot players.

Given Dallas' need, if you'll call it that, and Hitchcock's familiarity with Nash, the Stars make a lot of sense to me.

Adam French

The San Jose Sharks

Rick Nash is the perfect fit for a Sharks team searching for a new identity in the playoffs. A guy who can't score in them, but does everything else very well with platitudes about how great he was in the past.

They have the Cap Space and they have the history of constantly trading at the deadline.

With a struggling Pavelski, the only serious goal scoring threat on the Sharks is Logan Couture. The Sharks are getting close to their last heave with their current group and it's hard to argue that Nash is the best goal scorer available (playoffs excluded). He's also a big player and we know the Sharks love those. Wilson's tenure is almost up and I can see him being desperate enough to roll the dice.

James Tanner

The best place for Rick Nash is Edmonton. The Oilers - for some inexplicable reason - could use a scoring winger and Nash fits the bill. A lot of people think the Oilers are terrible, but I think they will surprise everyone and make the playoffs - at the very least come close.

While the Capitals have won despite poor analytics, the Oilers have the opposite problem. Over the course of time this should balance out. Realistically, there probably isn't enough time for that to happen this year, but if the Oilers get some luck to go with just playing well, I think they can win 9/10 and get back into the race. For that reason, they should trade for Rick Nash, who can't possibly cost that much.
