Per source, the New Jersey Devils will be very aggressive when and if Brad Marchand leaves Florida this summer. The 37 year old winger showed to have no shortage of fuel left in his tank, dominating during the Panthers cup run. However, it still is very likely that Marchand stays in Florida and quite possibly at a team friendly price. The key here for NJ and GM Tom Fitzgerald will be to feel out the situation immediately on July 1. It’s extremely important to understand what Marchand’s intentions are early, make an offer and if not accepted move on quickly. The Devils can ill afford to wait around on a decision only to find out they’re going to the dance without a date. While Marchand might be a 9, we would be better off getting an instant “yes” from a 6 or 7 that knows they want to rendezvous with Jersey.
