Capitals Block Party Continues in Game 2 Win
It’s shoot, shoot, shoot, versus block, block, block through two games in this Eastern Conference Semifinal series. The Carolina Hurricanes attempted 86 shots (94 in game one) and the Washington Capitals blocked 33 (32 in game one) of them.
In game two, the Caps finally capitalized, content on playing batten down the hatches and riding out the storm. Although a bit more aggressive offensively than in game one, Washington held on and rode out the hurricane that was Carolina’s shot brigade. With opportunistic goal scoring and a commitment and belief in Coach Spencer Carberry’s system the Capitals find themselves in a best of five series going forward.
Making The Most Of Their Chances
Both teams in this series are playing textbook playoff hockey. Limiting their mistakes and when one is made, finishing on it. Nearly all of the goals thus far in this series have been on minor miscues/breakdowns or fortuitous bounces and “Johnny on the spot” moments. With free space and open ice at a premium expect the next five games to be very similar. Buckle up and bet the under on goals, this is gonna be a tight one!
