Had the fortunate opportunity of talking to a great Toronto source who was down in the Philly area for a wedding yesterday…So here is some of what he has heard is the Maple Leaf plan…
On Justin Holl…
The Leafs are looking to move Holl in a big way, and they are getting some interested teams already..One particularly is the Vancouver Canucks, who are making no secrets to the fact they are going to acquire a quality d-man this offseason.
The Blues are also interested in Holl.
On William Nylander…
The frustration with Nylander is very real at this point and this summer the Leafs are looking to make a series of trades that would move Nylander elsewhere..Seattle, Columbus, and surprisingly Florida all have Nylander on their radar.
On Andrew Mangiapane…
Yes indeed. One of my favorites, Andrew Mangiapane is an RFA due for a raise and could end up the Nylander replacement in Toronto should the Flames sign Gaudreau. The Leafs LOVE Andrew and see him as a slightly less expensive, but more consistent Nylander…. No word on what they would have to give up in a trade to Calgary,
On Campbell…
I was told this deal is there to be made and there is little concern that they will be able to extend Campbell…in fact, a deal could be announced in the next two weeks…My source did caution that the deal is not done and can always still fall apart, and if we don’t hear a deal soon it would mean a drastic change has occurred and Campbell’s future in Toronto is in serious doubt…but he doesn’t anticipate that happening at all..
I was given some more info as well, but as of now was asked to keep that off the record…until close to the draft…unless I hear it from somewhere else… which is not uncommon with sources. They don’t want to be the only source because then it is obvious they are the one talking…
