Today I was working on the Rumor Chart and this came across my phone…from a source in Toronto who works for the NHL.
The source told me that there have been some preliminary talks between Edmonton and Montreal regarding what it would take to get Carey Price to come to Edmonton. The source believes that a third team would get involved to help split up the salary hit from Price.. there would be picks involved with all three teams…
So the rough deal would be something like:
to Edmonton: Carey Price at 1/4 Salary
to Montreal: Nugent-Hopkins, and first (lottery protected for THIS year only OR Edmonton could take Montreal’s 2023 first rounder, also Montreal would get a conditional 2nd from Edmonton (not sure on conditions, but it could be games played the remainder
Of the year and/or playoff rounds won)
To Third Team: Montreal’s second in 2023 and Edmonton fourth in 2023
What say you? Fair deal?
