There are some pretty awful reports out there regarding Patrick Kane right now, and in this day and age of social media stuff can get out of hand REALLY quickly.

The hockey world and social media world are of course a buzz because this is potentially a huge story surrounding a very popular star player. I refuse to write about such stories until the facts are out there and the word "alleged" has been removed by a public official. That is of course in no way condoning horrible acts like this is "speculated" to be, it is simply the "innocent until proven guilty" that makes the US and Canada so great.

I do not know the facts or the people involved and I believe when a person's entire reputation, family and future is on the line, reporting any "scoop" or news regarding such an incident is NOT a rumor. It is gossip. We don't do gossip.

My writers have been told over and over that they are free to write ANYTHING regarding their opinion on a player's play on the ice, but the second they report something about that player's personal life they cross a line that we don't cross here.

There is NO rush to news on this Patrick Kane story. Such a rush to news is not only unethical, but entirely wrong in my opinion. Any judgment on Kane or those involved at this point are simply salacious. So I ask you respect that mantra in your comment threads in the same way I have asked the writers on this site to stay far away from commenting on incidents of which we simply have no first-hand knowledge.

People love to pile on to famous people at times like this. I ask that you please refrain from that here. I am quite sure the ACTUAL facts will come out and we will discuss them from an educated perspective soon enough.

Thank you.
