There have been MANY great players who had stellar NHL Careers and yet were undrafted. Today you get to make your case about who is the best ever to play in this league without being drafted...With a few rules that exempt the WHA players who came into the league when their teams entered the league... for example, Wayne Gretzy. Not drafted by an NHL team. But wee there not a WHA he would have been.
I bring up this topic today because one of these players is my choice and is very newsworthy...and yours to beat.
My player: Artemi Panarin.
Undrafted, Panarin was signed as a UFA to Chicago and is now one of the top forwards in the game after signing one of the largest deals in NHL history last summer...He is already dominant and still VERY young in his development...
But...What say you?
Calder Finalists...
The NHL has announced its nominees for the rookie of the year award!
They are Cale Makar, Quinn Hughes and surprise, but worthy candidate Dominik Kubalik.
By the way....back in my blog on October 4th one of my annual "whacky predictions read as follows...
"A Hughes WILL Win the Calder and not be named Jack...But rather Quinn."
This was in the same Blog where I predicted the Sharks to finish out of the playoffs and in 6th place in the Division....so yeh...I am THAT Good.
Adams Candidates Finalists:
Alain Vigneault, Bruce Cassidy and John Tortorella. This one should be very close, but I kind of expect Vigneault to have the inside track....
