Can Skinner Win it All?

I think we can all agree that we’re trying to figure out what exactly kind of goalie Stuart Skinner is? And while that question really doesn’t matter, if you’re getting the job done, we live in an era where goalies are put so much into boxes and defined by the styles they play. Every once in a while, a Tim Thomas or Jonathan Quick will come along and leave all the goalie coaches scratching their heads and saying, how can they be such great goalies? they don’t play this kind of butterfly or any kind of stance.

I have never been able to describe what Stuart Skinner is? However, Justin Bourne last night of the Real Kyper and Bourne show, was on Sportsnet late and he nailed it…He said Skinner gets the job done despite looking like a Polar Bear on Roller Skates with some Street Hockey saves throw in.

I have to say, “Justin hats off you slayed it.” Also, like a polar bear, you know Stuart Skynyrd is going to compete at the absolute top level he can each night. He’s gonna look completely awkward doing it, but if Edmonton manages to keep the shots a certain way and keeps rebounds away, it can be highly effective as we’ve seen…. If not. It’s a disaster.

Can That be enough to beat Dallas? I’d have to say yes, cause it did last night for sure. Can it win you a Cup? Not so sure because both Florida and Carolina like to score from the point and I think Skinner‘s game is definitely best down low.

But you truly can’t argue with success right now and Edmonton is only three games away from the Stanley Cup final with the goalie that many thought couldn’t get them out of the first round… And kinda didn’t…

I think from here on out it’s really more on Edmonton’s defense. Skinner has the ability to make crazy good saves once in a while and steal a goal. But his fault seems to come on way more normal looking shots… from the slot or from the point or tip-ins…. That’s not his strong suit so if Edmonton can block those shots and clear out the rebounds. Skinner may be enough…
