Preds Make Trade

Preds have acquired Kole Sherwood from Ottawa for future considerations. Sherwood is 24 years old and has only 11 NHL games under this belt.

He's young and with size at 6'1", 212lbs. Cannot say I know much, if anything about this player off the top of my head but it is a move the Preds have made nonetheless. He's a Columbus, OH native having played for the Ohio Blue Jackets AAA program, so maybe I played against him back in the day. Funny enough, the Preds play the bigger Blue Jackets tonight.

Columbus Visits Nashville

The last three games have not presented much substantive information to discuss in my opinion as it was one sloppy game against Vegas, a strong response against New Jersey, and then a quick, long road trip to Colorado on little rest.

To sum it up, the Vegas game, all in all, was not a poor performance. The real issues developed from bad turn overs in the neutral zone that resulted in odd-man rushes and beautiful snipes by Vegas. Prevent those sloppy turnovers, and I believe it would have been a different game than the final result of 5-2.

The true test came with New Jersey coming to town after the Vegas defeat. The team showed up and demonstrated that they will play gritty and fight for one another, while also putting past mistakes to bed and responding appropriately when needed. A decisive 4-2 victory was just the response.

As I alluded to above, the Colorado game was a tough break. The Preds need to learn how to grind out victories against these "better" teams, especially those within the division. But playing at home against New Jersey and then having to travel cross country to Denver to play the next night was a recipe for a disaster. They tried to fight back coming within one early to make ti 2-1, but their legs simply gave out on them from little rest, high altitude, and, frankly, a faster team that took advantage of our inability to play our physical game.

Tonight should be a great test, and I am looking forward to how these two teams match up having similar records (Preds at 11-9-1 and Columbus at 12-7) and the sports books placing Columbus at a slight underdog with Columbus being +135 and Nashville -155, courtesy of DraftKings. Columbus has surprisingly had few issues scoring goals this season. After a few days' rest, this game will see if the team can respond once again following a loss.
