The Preds have acquired D-man Ryan McDonagh from Tampa Bay sending Phillipe Myers and Grant Mismash to the Lightning. Tampa has been in cap trouble and have been looking to offload McDonagh, although he remained a fan and player favorite. This will add great depth to the Nashville backline as that was a considerable weakness for them last season. McDonagh is a very steady, reliable veteran who will bring a lot to both on ice play and off ice leadership. I love this move. McDonagh isn't the player he used to be, but he is nonetheless a fantastic addition and still has a lot to offer.

He has 4 more years on his existing contract at $6.75 AAV and has a NTC meaning he had to ok the Nashville move. It's always an extra bonus when players are happy to be here. It may be tough with a 33 year old having him until he is 37, but his style of play and veteran leadership still make me chalk this as a win for the team even if he is on the backend of his career. Really excited to see him in gold this fall!
