2) Today is the 12th and final day of the 2021 edition of the Flyers Alumni Association's 12 Days of Christmas. To wrap up this year's edition, the Flyers Alumni are making a $5,000 donation to Tim Kerr Charities. Over its 32 years of existence, TKC has raised millions of dollars for community groups and direct-assistance charities in New Jersey, across the Mid-Atlantic region and nationwide.

"Tim's organization does a tremendous job with their fundraising events, especially their annual run/walk event. Tim never seeks publicity for himself or all things he does for the community. But we wanted to support his charity foundation and recognize the great work they do and recognize a member of the Flyers Alumni Family in a way that fits in with the spirit of our own 12 Days of Christmas Giving campaign," said Brad Marsh, who serves as the president of the Flyers Alumni Association.

3) Condolences go out to the friends and family of Bob McCammon, who passed away yesterday at the age of 80. "Cagey" spent two stints as Flyers head coach (July 6, 1978 to January 30, 1979 and again from March 19, 1982 through April 25, 1984). He concurrently served as the team's general manager during the 1983-84 season. The Flyers had their share of regular season success under McCammon but had trouble advancing beyond the first round of the playoffs, losing several times to the New York Rangers as well as the Washington Capitals.

Before his first and in-between his first and second stints as the Flyers head coach,M cCammon was the head coach of the team’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Maine Mariners. McCammon coached the team to back-to-back Calder Cup championships in 1977-78 and 1978-89 as well as a third Calder Cup Finals appearance in 1981. Torn quadriceps suffered in the playoffs by 1980-81 AHL MVP, Goalie of the Year and Rookie of the Year award winner Pelle Lindbergh basically cost the team a third championship in four years.

4) As we do on this blog every year, below is the 1984 edition of the Flyers reading 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. Rest in peace Pelle Lindbergh, Peter Zezel, Brad McCrimmon, Ilkka Sinisalo, Miroslav Dvorak, E.J. McGuire and Bill Delaney.
