Quick Hits: June 3, 2020

1) Unfortunately, a report posted yesterday on Survivornet.com stating that Flyers left winger Oskar Lindblom had completed his final round of treatments for Ewing's Sarcoma proved to be incorrect. The Flyers corrected the report by saying that, although Lindblom is progressing very well, he has not completed his course of treatments. Subsequently, Survivornet amended its article accordingly.

2) In light of the social justice and racial equality protests going on nationwide -- actually, in many countries -- the wake of the George Floyd killing by Minneapolis police officers and several other high-profile cases across the country that have resulted in the deaths of African-Americans, the Flyers have put a temporary hold on hockey-related content across the organization's various platforms.

Originally, Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher had a media conference call scheduled for this week in order to discuss the NHL Return-to-Play plan and provide various Flyers-related updates. Feeling that now is not an appropriate time to discuss hockey in light of the much larger issues the nation is dealing with, the session was postponed.

Likewise, there will be no content on the Flyers website this week. Several articles originally planned for this week -- including a deep-dive analysis of the Flyers' improved penalty kill this season, a look at what to expect from the organization's four newest signings (Tanner Laczynski, Wade Allison, Linus Sandin and Linus Högberg), and a discussion of Sean Couturier's Selke Trophy candidacy along with an historical look at Flyers Selke winners and finalists through the years.

In the meantime, Philadelphia Inquirer beat writer Sam Carchidi caught up with club vice president and assistant general manager Brent Flahr as well as senior advisor Paul Holmgren -- Holmgren is a Minnesota native and Flahr lived for many years in Minnesota while working under Fletcher with the Wild -- on the current situation. 3) Flyers left winger James van Riemsdyk, whose wife and in-laws are native Minnesotans and who just had a house built in that state, put out a statement of his own on Instagram.

4)Today in Flyers History: On June 3, 1968, the Flyers claimed aging Hall of Fame defenseman Allan Stanley from the Toronto Maple Leafs. The oldest player to appear for the Flyers in team history, the 42-year-old would finish his 1,244-game NHL career with Philadelphia in 1968-69.
