The Los Angeles Kings played three games last week and signed a defenseman to a three-year extension. Here’s a recap of news and notes from the week.


KINGS WIN TWO OF THREE GAMES, ONE GAME POSTPONED

The Kings won two of their three games last week, with their game scheduled for last Monday against the St. Louis Blues being postponed. In the games they did play, the Kings picked up a win in their only match against the Blues, then split a two-game series against the Vegas Golden Knights.


AMADIO PLACED ON WAIVERS, CLEARS

Forward Mike Amadio was placed on waivers this week and cleared the following day. He’s since been assigned to the taxi squad, after posting two assists in 20 games.


KINGS EXTEND MATT ROY

The Kings signed Matt Roy to a three-year extension yesterday, which carries a $3.15 million AAV. To read my thoughts on the deal, you can find that here.



As for our poll questions, here are the results, along with my thoughts on how they turned out.



QUESTION: Heading into the deadline, the Kings should:

Avoid any major moves: 56%
Buy: 26%
Sell: 18%

The Kings are certainly in an interesting situation as the deadline nears. They shouldn’t give up any future assets for immediate help but are still in the playoff race and could make a push for a spot in the postseason.



QUESTION: Do you like Matt Roy’s new contract?

(Votes: 77)

Yes: 92%
No: 8%

I’m definitely a fan of Roy’s extension. It’s a very reasonable price and with a three-year deal, it’s lower risk and will expire by the time Roy is 29 years old, giving the Kings an opportunity to reevaluate at that point.
