Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. I’m a day late, but here are last week’s poll results and my thoughts on how they turned out.

QUESTION: How long do you think Devon Toews’ contract extension will be?

(Votes: 88)

4 years: 41%
5 years: 34%
3 years or less: 18%
6 years or more: 7%

I agree with the 75 per cent of voters here that think it’ll either be a four or five-year deal. This would give the Islanders a solid amount of term to work with and it would likely come at a fairly reasonable price. But with Mathew Barzal and Ryan Pulock needing new contracts as well, however, the deal could unfortunately be impacted by the Islanders’ lack of cap space. Getting new deals for Barzal and Pulock will be at the top of Lou Lamoriello's offseason to-do list and as a result, Toews may get the short end of the stick here and end up with a short-term deal.

QUESTION: Do you think the Islanders will win their qualifying round series against the Panthers?

(Votes: 203)

Yes: 80%
No: 20%

I’d say I’m pretty confident in the Islanders for this series and they got a pretty good draw here. I’ll be doing a more in-depth look at the matchup over the next few days but I’m certainly optimistic about New York’s chances here.

QUESTION: Which prospect are you most excited about?

(Votes: 86)

Iskhakov: 52%
Jenkins: 20%
Bibeau: 17%
Coskey: 10%

I’m also going with Iskhakov by a pretty wide margin here. Truthfully, the three CHL players don’t project as effective NHL players and Iskhakov is definitely the top prospect of the four, at least in my opinion. That said, the deeper the prospect pool, the better the chances of finding another NHL player, so you never know what can happen.

QUESTION: With Pelech back, who do you think will be scratched?

(Votes: 120)

Greene: 41%
Boychuk: 34%
Someone else: 25%

It’s interesting to see the majority here voting for Greene as the scratch, as Boychuk is my pick. I also saw an idea in the comments that I really liked, which was for the Islanders to rotate between Boychuk and Greene for the last spot in the lineup. Regardless, it’s likely going to be either Boychuk or Greene out of the lineup, like 75 per cent of readers voted.
