The Coyotes beat the Dallas Stars last night, which put an end to their five game losing streak, and sort of kept their playoff hopes alive, with only a four point gap between them and the Blues.
But then the Blues won again this afternoon, and now it's six points.
It's the same amount they are away from the NHL's basement.
And it wouldn't be a Coyotes game without an injury, and Mario Kempe is now day to day with a lower (or possibly upper) body injury.
According to an article Craig Morgan wrote in the Athletic yesterday, the Coyotes are not only leading the NHL with 303 man games lost to injury, but they are also leading the NHL with `17 points in the standings lost to injury.
That would put them ahead of Vegas and into third place, only four points back of the Flames. IF you've got a subscription, you should read the article.
Even though the Coyotes are having a terrible injury season, and even though their best player is currently playing for the Chicago Blackhawks, and even though the Oilers have the best player in the world, and at least two players who would be the Coyote's best player, it's worth pointing out that the two teams have the exact same record.
