It’s June and the Stanley Cup Final is almost over. Prime time to fire up the rumors. Frank Seravalli of TSN has compiled the 25 players most likely to be traded this offseason and there are two Penguins on the list. Neither of which come as a surprise.

The first is Phil Kessel who ranks ninth overall on the list. The second is Conor Sheary who is 17th on the list. Both players have been talked about in trade rumors. Seravalli added this note about Kessel in his piece

Penguins GM Jim Rutherford said recently the speculation about Phil Kessel (9) on the move has been “blown out of proportion.” That also doesn’t mean that Kessel is untouchable, as Rutherford tries to gear up Pittsburgh for another run.

Phil is more likely than not to be traded if Jim Rutherford sees a win now deal that makes sense.

Conor Sheary needs to play better in 2018-19 and as I’ve mentioned before I’m willing to take that chance at 3M. I would also think about giving him more penalty killing time. He’s very quick and that is probably the most important asset for a modern day player on the penalty kill. It’s a way to get him more minutes while his side wall spot on the second power play unit gets taken by Derick Brassard.

Max Domi is 19th on the list and the Penguins have been tied to rumors with him recently. I think hanging on to Sheary and not giving up assets would be the better roster management at this point as I detailed here.
