The New Jersey Devils will have a couple prospects playing for the Memorial Cup in less than a week's time.

Marian Studenic and his Hamilton Bulldogs beat out the powerhouse Soo Greyhounds in six games to earn the right to represent the OHL.

I was at the close-out game on Sunday and left impressed by Studenic's skating and tenacity. The guy has a non-stop motor.

I do think he's being overrated by many in the online community, though.

Playoffs included, he produced 63 points in 83 games. That's not all that impressive for a drafted player who played most of the season as a 19-year-old.

In his age group, Studenic finished 28th among OHLers in 5v5 points, 31st in 5v5 points/60 and 44th in 5v5 shots.

Could he be a NHL player? Sure, although I think the likelihood is less than most believe and his ceiling is that of a depth player.

The other Devils prospect heading to the Memorial Cup is defenseman Colby Sissons.

He put up 71 points in 72 regular season games and followed that up with 23 points in 26 post-season games. Impressive production.

The one caveat is a lot of the damage he did was on a loaded power play. That still counts, obviously, but he doesn't stand out as much at 5v5.

Among 151 CHL defenders in Sisson's age group, he finished 12th in 5v5 points per game, and 23rd in 5v5 points/60. That's still good, especially for an undrafted player. You're almost certainly going to be disappointed if you think he's going to be an impact player, though.

For perspective, some of you aren't sold on Damon Severson and his numbers were noticeably better across the board at the same age.

Sissons is progressing nicely, no doubt, but expectations should be tempered a little bit.
