Last night, the Sabres visited Tampa, the best team in hockey, on a night where Tampa was debuting their new post trade deadline roster...Everything should have been working against them...and yet they battled back to tie it at 1, and then win it in overtime...but that wasn't really the story...the Sabres were the better team through much of the first period. They had countless chances, hit posts and Vasilievsky was amazing...

And it it not just last night...

The Buffalo Sabres have recently beaten both the Lightning and the Bruins...Twice each...

Beating good teams and losing to bad teams is usually what happens to good teams who are starting to develop into legit contenders... Consistency is always the last thing, and always the hardest thing, for a young team to find. It takes a lot of seriously adept coaching, but the Sabres should get there...They have some talented and skilled skaters....and they are going to be good, I mean REALLY good, soon.

Buzzworthy....

Matt Barzal last night....Islanders fans aren't getting too much to cheer about these days, but this kid, and this play, should give some hope I would think...There are maybe 10 players in the NHL who could make this play at this speed...

Upsetville...

It's March and we are officially at the time of year when teams who have been essentially eliminated from the playoffs are playing with little to lose and can spoil many a party...We have seen that BIG time in the first three nights following the deadline...As a scout once said to me, "After a team has sold at the deadline the remaining players are like cornered squirrels with nothing to lose..."

Projected Standings (fixed)
