The Coyotes Should Trade Both 1st Round Picks they Have

The Thing about rebuilding is you gotta have some balance.

The Coyotes are stacked to the gills with a collection of excellent young forwards and defenseman. They don't really have a goalie worth talking about, but that's fine, they can get that later.

The core of Domi, Strome, Keller, Duclair, Perlini, Dvorak, Chychrun, DeAngleo and Ekman-Larsson is on the verge of being one of the best groups of players in the NHL.

They also have about five or six other players - Martinook, Reider, Fischer and more - who are either effective NHLers or decent B grade prospects.

But if you want to compete in the NHL you need a collection of in-their-prime players that can compliment your rookie / young players.

The Maple Leafs had Gardiner, Kadri, JVR, Andersen and Bozak to go with their young players and had success. The Coyotes need to do the same thing.

One thing they could do is move out that #7 overall pick. They also have the #23 pick. These are two valuable assets which they could use - maybe with some of their prospect pool - to acquire some players in their prime which can help them now.

You can only go with so many draft picks and young assets. Eventually you have to trade them for guys that can help you now. The tanking is over and it's time to try and win.

The first step is converting these two draft picks into players who can help now.
