UPDATE: Leafs head coach Mike Babcock says (per TSN's Jonas Siegel) that Robidas has a knee injury.
*******
Reports on Monday morning indicated that the Toronto Maple Leafs were placing veteran defenseman Stephane Robidas on waivers, but his name did not appear on the league's waiver list on Monday.
Sportsnet's Chris Johnston indicated that the blueliner has not made the team, but it is uncertain what the future holds for the 38-year-old.
Robidas is in year two of a three-year, $9 Million contract and the Leafs would get no cap relief from sending him down to the American Hockey League since his deal was signed after the age of 35.
Robidas is unlikely to retire, because he would lose the $5 Million in salary owed to him over the next two seasons and if bought out after the season, the Leafs would still have a $3 Million cap hit on the books for this and next season.

The Leafs will start goalie Jonathan Bernier in the first two games of the season, the home opener against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday and against the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena on Friday.
James Reimer will place the second of back-to-back games on Saturday against the Ottawa Senators at Air Canada Center.
