It’s August 15th, so we are already more than halfway through the Tampa Bay Lightning’s offseason. All is quiet in Lightningland.
I’ve received quite a number of emails over the last couple days about Steven Stamkos and his contract situation. As everyone who follows hockey knows, he’s been eligible to sign an extension with the Lightning since July 1st of this year. His current contract, which carries a cap hit of $7.5-million, expires next season; he’ll become an Unrestricted Free Agent if this situation isn’t resolved before then.
People want to know what I think. Am I worried? When do I think he’ll sign? Do I think he’s going to Toronto? Countless emails have asked me those exact questions in one form or another. As my computer access out here on vacation is really limited, I’m going to ask you to do the work today. It’s a simple question --- When will worry set in for you re: Stamkos’ extension?
When will you start worrying about the Stamkos situation if there is no extension in place?
Let me know what you think!
As always, thanks for reading.
