Isles and Habs Lost Out on Perron, turn to Vermette. Leafs Blockbuster?

The happiest team in hockey, yesterday after Dave Perron got traded to Pittsburgh, was probably the Phoenix Coyotes.

I am told both Montreal and the NY Islanders (along with possibly the Bruins and Rangers) were in on Perron and now that the Penguins have gotten better the pressure mounts to improve and keep pace in a VERY wide open Eastern Conference.

Antoine Vermette is sitting out there and may be even more costly than Perron...always was..and now he sort of stands alone among the obvious players who can make an impact and will almost certainly be dealt. The arms race is on!

Toronto trying to make blockbuster...

Ok....I always hesitate to talk about the Leafs and blockbuster trades in the same sentence, but too many are telling me the Leafs talks with both Colorado and LA have picked up and could include "several NHL pieces...:

stay tuned....its really getting good out there...
