Johnson Sits Out Monday's Practice, Malkin Leaves Early

There wasn't any huge news that came out of Monday's practice for the Penguins. Goaltender Brent Johnson missed the session with an illness and Evgeni Malkin left the ice after 30 minutes of skating.

Head coach Dan Bylsma said that Malkin is still experiencing some "discomfort" and that the team is taking this opportunity to rest him. He has been dealing with a knee injury. I don't suspect this is anything major for Malkin, just some down time as the team has a few days in between games.

Bylsma Talks Goaltending

The Penguins clawed their way to a 4-3 shootout victory Saturday night against the Phoenix Coyotes. The team had to overcome a 2-0 deficit.

Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz scored in regulation for Pittsburgh, while Mark Letestu added the shootout winner. Letestu also assisted on Kunitz's game-tying score.

The Penguins managed to win the game, but not before starting goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury was pulled early in the first period in favor of Brent Johnson. Fleury let in two goals on five shots before the switch was made. Johnson went on to make 22 saves on 23 shots and earned his sixth victory of the year.

Fleury is still stuck at one win on the season and there has been a lot of talk around Pittsburgh about the goaltending situation. Bylsma addressed the media after Monday's practice and there was plenty of goalie talk:
