The Pittsburgh Goaltending Situation

Goalies On Goalies

Pittsburgh netminders Marc-Andre Fleury and Brent Johnson speak about each other's play and the goaltending situation in Pittsburgh.

Brent Johnson: 5-0-1, 1.16 GAA, .960 SV%

Marc-Andre Fleury: 1-5-0, 3.35 GAA, .863 SV%

There's no doubt that Johnson has been the stronger goalie of the two, but I do tend to agree with comments that the team has played a more complete game in front of Johnson so far this year.

Fluery has not played bad, but has let in some questionable goals, while everything seems to be clicking for Johnson. Head coach Dan Bylsma and the rest of the team say that Fleury is still no doubt the No. 1 guy.

Right now Fleury could use a little luck, a bounce here or there. Putting together a strong game in a winning effort will go a long way for him. I think he has the confidence. Johnson is just playing lights out right now, while Fleury can't catch a break.

Like Johnson said, the important thing for the team is racking up wins, and it's great that he is playing well enough that the Penguins can ride his hot streak. He's a great backup to have and another very solid signing by Penguins general manager Ray Shero.
