Chris Chelios’ brief time as an Atlanta Thrasher has come to an end as the veteran defenseman was returned to the Chicago Wolves as that team prepares for the playoffs.

“The plan was for me to go back and they were going to bring up one of the younger guys depending on what happened tonight”, Chelios commented after the 3-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils, (Martin Brodeur’s 600th win as an NHL goalie).

The future NHL Hall of Fame blueliner appeared in seven games for the Thrashers with no points and a –2 rating and 2 shots on goal.

With the move, the Thrashers will more than like call up either Arturs Kulda, Ivan Vishnevskiy or Paul Postma to play in the final two games this weekend…Friday in Washington and the Penguins here in Atlanta. Personally, I would like to see more of Kulda.

Called up just prior to the Olympic break, Kulda played in a pair of games and collected his first NHL point…a secondary assist on Maxim Afinogenov’s third period goal during a 5-4 shootout loss in Chicago. He was a +1 with 2 SOGs during those games and looked strong defensively…good positioning and quick legs.

Congratulation to Chelios on his incredible career in the NHL…also a big tip of the hat to Marty the Magnificent for reaching the 600-win milestone and increasing his career shutout total to 110.
