It truly was one of those "Gotta do what you gotta do" moments. I said back in July that, if Dan Boyle was dealt, I'd eat a hat before opening night and that's exactly what I did. Have a look ... and please excuse the subpar sound ... as I explained this morning, cameraman Art Vandelay has to deal with less than stellar equipment.
Now I don't want to hear any complaints about my choice of hat ...
No, it wasn't exactly my size but, for one, I have an above average dome and two, it actually tasted pretty good.
Further, no matter how you look at it, the item consumed was most certainly a hat by definition. It was a certain type of hat, yes. I'll give you that. But a hat is hat is a hat is a hat and I, my friends, made good on my word.
As for my dedication, well ... short of the new owners down here actually wearing cowboy hats to opening night (which, if I were them, I would have strongly considered) ... let's just call this more of a "Welcome to town" for them than a slight to the other party I mentioned.
And, hey ... he started it.
That's all I got for now. Trying to settle in before game time. Lukas Krajicek, wearing number 2, is indeed in the building and currently skating in pregame warmups.
