The 140 minutes of combined penalties (85 for EDM, 55 for FLA) have set the stage for what should no doubt be an explosive Game 4 tonight in Sunrise when these two powerhouse teams take the ice again after a two-day break.
Seriously…how about that Game 3 heat? The Panthers got their fair share of jabs and penalties in, but it was the Oilers who really seemed to lose their cool. I was pretty surprised, especially given that I never felt they were completely out of the game early on. Some times those nights just happen. Thankfully, the Cats capitalized on the opportunities EDM gave them and took home the W.
I do not expect the same behavior from either tonight. In fact, I think it’s going to be an extremely regimented, close game. Even Maurice agrees:
After a 6-1 thumping, eyes naturally turn towards the blue paint. Many are wondering if Skinner has lost the crease, opting for Pickard to get the nod. Earlier today, it was revealed that there will be no change in net, however:
My guess is EDM is chalking Game 3 up to a bad night all around. As such, they’re giving Skinner another shot - after all, he’s played well for them this postseason. Could be they’re trying to avoid an Oettinger situation, or even the Panthers goaltending carousel of Bob, Driedger, and Knight from a couple seasons back. Skinner is probably on a very short leash though. Any sign of mental or physical (positioning, etc.) struggle and I think he’s done. It’s up to the Panthers tonight to lay it on heavy with rubber on net.
Keep your heads on a swivel tonight, boys…Game 4 is on the horizon!
Go Panthers!
