This is an opinion that a friend texted me…
The person said, “Danny should have traded Risto before he got hurt.
Hindsight with injuries is always 20/20, but even now I still wouldn’t have. I know he’s older, but I feel like you need someone to mentor these young defenseman and I believe he’s your guy because he does basically everything well. He is solid defensively, makes good first passes, knows when to jump up, and when to throw a big hit.
To me, he’s a lot like some defenseman the Flyers havehad in the past who were older when they came here, but made an impact…despite not being super flashy….
Guys like Luke Richardson, or for the real old people like me…Jay Wells.
These kind of defensemen are hard to find when everybody wants them.
Would you ever traded Risto this season before he got hurt, and what would you have thought was a good return?
