The Detroit Red Wings had representatives on 3 of the 4 teams in the medal games yesterday. USA gets the gold with Trey Augustine in net and Max Plante at center. Augustine played in 5 games garnering a 2.52 GAA and a .917 SV%. Plante had 1 goal and 2 assists in 6 games.

Detroit’s lone representative for Finland (Silver) was RW Jesse Kiiskinen who had 6 goals and 1 assist in 7 games. This acquisition looks like that bright spot in the trade with Nashville that sent ended up sending Walman to San Jose.

Sweden lost in overtime, but Axel Sandin-Pellikka was named defenseman of the tournament (again). The right shot prospect had 4 goals and 6 assists in 7 games. Beyond that, the announcing crew seemed to love his game. Will be very exciting to get this prospect over to North America as soon as possible.

Let me know your thoughts on the prospects and tournament as a whole. Seeing Kiiskinen play was a highlight, since he’d been drafted by Nashville originally his career wasn’t documented much in this blog. Augustine seems ready for the next step and has a gold medal for the mantle. MSU will be glad to have him back but played well while he ws out of town.
