The Winnipeg Jets won their 3rd OT game of the season last night, defeating the Seattle Kraken by a score of 4-3 in Seattle.

The 1st period was a very sluggish one for the Jets. They looked very flat footed and slow. They seldom got any quality scoring opportunities vs Kraken goaltender Joey Daccord. The Kraken opened up the scoring when Matty Beniers scored top shelf on Connor Hellebuyck off of a broken play just after the halfway mark of the period. The first period concluded with the Kraken up 1-0.

Much like the last game vs the Blues, once the 2nd period began, the Jets took over. After a few scoring chances for them, the 3rd line for the Jets got them a greasy goal. Mason Appleton took a shot that deflected off of Adam Lowry's face, then Nino Niederreiter's chest and into the Kraken net to tie the game. Niederreiter was credited with the goal. Next, when the Jets were caught on a bad line change, it seemed like Oliver Bjorkstrand scored to put the Kraken up 2-1. However, the Jets challenged for Goaltender interference and replays showed that the skate of Yanni Gourde prevented Hellebuyck from making the save. The challenge was successful and the score remained 1-1. Then, with under 5 minutes left in the period, Kyle Connor created a turnover in the Kraken zone and got the puck to Gabe Vilardi who made a nice move around Daccord to score his first goal of the season. The period ended with the Jets up 2-1.

Five minutes into the 3rd period, just as their only PP of the game had expired, Niederreiter scored his 2nd goal of the night to put the Jets up 3-1. When it looked like the Jets would buckle down and shut the door the rest of the way, the Kraken tilted the ice in their favor. At about the halfway mark in the period, Jordan Eberle slid the puck past Hellebuyck to bring the score to 3-2. Next, with under 4 minutes left in regulation, Beniers tipped a Brandon Montour point shot past Hellebuyck to tie the game at 3 and go into overtime.

90 seconds into the overtime, on a delayed Kraken penalty, Nikolaj Ehlers came off the bench as the extra-attacker, received the puck and fired it through Daccord to win the game for the Jets.

The Jets are now 3-0 in overtime to start the year. They have yet to get to a shootout. Their overall record is now 7-0. Dating back to last season, they have now won 15 consecutive regular season games.

The Jets will now head back to Canada to take on the Flames in Calgary on Saturday night.
