The NY Islanders are one of five or six clubs on the bubble for an Eastern Conference playoff spot, but concerns about the health status of goalie Ilya Sorokin revealed by Elliotte Friedman could derail them this season
.
Friedman said that Sorokin was battling an unspecified injury. The former Vezina Trophy nominee played second fiddle to veteran Semyon Varlamov late last season and in the playoffs, and there is some fear that it is still not resolved, but no one is talking right now.

New York is offensively challenged and did not play the shutdown defense it did under Barry Trotz, so it is heavily reliant on Sorokin being at his best to make the playoffs.

We will know more when training camp opens later this month.
