Cats vs Leafs

After scrapping by the Detroit Red Wings with a 3-2 OT win on Saturday, the Florida Panthers head north to Toronto to face the Austin Matthews-led Maple Leafs.

This is the final road trip for the Cats, as the season is winding down quickly (it flew by!).

Per Litter Box Cats:

The Maple Leafs are coming off a rousing 3-0 victory over the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center that saw Auston Matthews notch his 60th goal of the season to equal his career-high with 5:37 remaining in the game. Ilya Samsonov stopped 34 shots to post his 20th win and third shutout of the campaign. Toronto is on the verge of clinching a playoff spot for the eighth straight season, with their magic down to three. Matthews and William Nylander lead the Maple Leafs in scoring with 95 points.”

If all plays out right, tonight should be an awesome game between two Atlantic Division teams. While the Panthers currently hold the #2 spot in the division, the Leafs are right on their heels currently six points behind. If Florida can’t get back to their confident winning ways, Toronto is poised to sneak into that second spot in the division.

Though being downplayed by Maurice and some of the players, this is a big game that should carry a playoff atmosphere — despite all the “it’s just another regular season game” talk.

Honestly, this should be a good measuring stick for the Cats, with their current play, to see where they stand against an assured playoff foe.
