Struggling Panthers vs Struggling Islanders

The post-TDL Florida Panthers are a different breed…and that’s not necessarily a good thing (right now).

Whatever is going on with these guys at the moment is frustrating to watch. I don’t know if the deadline acquisitions are still adjusting, the chemistry has been thrown off, or what, but the Cats don’t have the dominance and confidence they had throughout the bulk of this season.

A heavy matchup with the Boston Bruins on Tuesday did not disappoint in terms of pace and playoff atmosphere. But a bad penalty that opened the door to the Panthers eventually blowing a lead and ultimately losing the game (and first place of the Atlantic Division), certainly disappointed.

Hey, these things happen throughout the course of a season, right?

Definitely.

But it doesn’t make it any better when your team is going through these struggles.

The reality is that Florida has dropped five of their last six games. Thankfully, they will clash with a team tonight in the New York Islanders that is also struggling — though they could be dangerous due to desperation…

Per Litter Box Cats:

The Islanders are also coming in cold, just 1-6-1 over the last eight games, and are running out of runway if they want to slip into the postseason. After halting a seven-game losing streak with an impressive 6-3 win over the Winnipeg Jets, the Islanders were blanked 4-0 by the New Jersey Devils Sunday in the second segment of a back-to-back at UBS Arena. New York is currently six points out of a playoff spot and will make stops in Tampa and Philadelphia after concluding the season series against the Panthers.“

Ekblad is back and Stolarz gets the start.

Time to break out of the slump.

Rhino

One of the bright spots throughout this bleak stretch, has been the play of Sam Reinhart.

He has been on an absolute tear this year, notching goal #51 on Tuesday night.

We’re witnessing some incredible play here!
