I hated missing the game last night. Almost as much as I hated seeing the result. Lyon stopped 31 of 32. Unfortunately for Detroit Saros stopped 22 of 22. The comments in the blog before the game essentially called the outcome. Low scoring and that favored Nashville. Today Washington has a chance to push Detroit back outside of the playoffs, and then ironically will clash with Detroit on Tuesday. The drama couldn’t be scripted better than it has turned out.

While Detroit was facing a tough loss, Trey Augustine backstopped MSU to a Big 10 win vs. U of M. All bets are off as to whether or not Detroit will look at an ELC for the 19 year old. On the U of M side, Jacob Truscott (Port Huron native) told VAN he won’t be signing with them a few months back. I have to think Detroit has at least taken a good look. We’ll find out soon enough.

As we get closer to the end of the season, we can start opining on comings and goings. Let me know in the comments, will Detroit be active in the collegiate scene as the season ends for U of M? Do the Wings have enough in the tank to win up to 8 of 11 games? In a very short time the team will either be preparing for a first round entry or doing exit interviews. It’s game to game and needing other teams to fall off. When your success depends as much on someone’s failure as your own success it’s a very uncomfortable place to be.
