Historically, we are getting very close to the time where some of the big names will be coming off the rumor chart as teams try to make their moves early. So why have teams waited this long? It's truly all about space, the longer you have a player the longer you have to pay the player the longer that player counts against your salary cap.

But there comes a bump in the road where that stops mattering as much as team chemistry or team immediate needs or team in desperation of making the playoffs feel the pressure to pull the trigger.

For such a player on my rumor chart to be moved a couple things have to be set.

First off the team selling needs to be completely sure they are indeed a seller.
Secondly, the team buying has enough to cap space to make this work immediately.
Thirdly, there is enough fear from teams interested in player that that player is going to be a player traded before they have a chance to make the deal.

So who are those players this year?

Number one would have to be Markstrom

The two teams who want to do this as early as possible are obviously the Kings and the Devils.

from a source, "markstrom has been a top goalie all year, and I'd adventure to say it's been several years since we've had a goalie in the top 10 of goalies available at the deadline. he is a difference maker, but chances are LA or NJ would have to bring another team in to take some space. Montreal is a really good bet. I'd put. Markstrom getting moved in the next seven days at almost 90%."

Number two, would be Tanev.

Chris is a top pairing defenseman who blocks shots. He's another true rarity.

from a source, "adding a shot blocker is exactly what a team like Florida, Toronto, Tampa, New Jersey Winnipeg, and others would like to add. I would love to Tampa and New Jersey because they are the most likely to need this player to make the playoffs. The other teams look at him as more of a playoff luxury so if it happens now it happens in Tampa or New Jersey. And remember New Jersey also is in Markstrom so there's only so much you can do at once.. If Markstrom Tanev is out of the question. New Jersey has to be careful not to be sucked into this too much because they could lose both very easily."

#3. Adam Henrique

from a source> "If you need a center with experience, playoff experience, this is your guy. The fact that Anaheim is out of it completely makes this player more available than say a Scott Laughton potentially in Philly. the Rangers, the Devils again, Minnesota, perhaps BOSTON."

What player are there do you believe could be the first to go?
