Just a couple of thoughts. You can watch the full replay below. Edvinsson and Seider had some fairly tense moments as they would go head to head. Edvinsson’s skating looks good, and Seider had a beautiful puck drag score on the shootout. The commentary team thinks that Seider is pushing Edvinsson to try and take a spot on the left side.

Danielson made some nice plays, but a year in junior will probably be the best thing for him. Larkin, Debrincat, Raymond, Perron, Seider and Gostisbehere were into it. They were really trying to make a go of things and push the pace. Some nice looks from Husso and Reimer in net

Good to see Edvinsson on the ice. Really important to get some pre season ice time. The staff is letting players who are GR bound play on lines with some of the Detroit bound pros. That’s a good opportunity for them to watch how the pros handle themselves.

First Period
Sprong opened up the scoring just 53 seconds in, an acquisition that hasn’t been talked about a lot but could be a plus for Detroit. Scored on a nice slapshot. 1-0 team Red

Anisimov and Gettinger combined on a nice 2 man rush with 9:48 left. Nice cross seam pass from Anisimov and Gettinger buried it. 2-0 team Red.

At 2:58 Matt Luff took a bad spill and looked to injure his right shoulder. Didn’t get up, really looked shaken up.

Final after the first period is 2-0 team Red.

Second Period: differing format has team Red on power play for 4 minutes in 1 minute increments alternating unit 1 and unit 2. First unit had Larkin, Perron, Debrincat, Gostisbehere and Seider. Some good looks for first unit. 2nd Unit gets 1 minute with Soderblom, Sprong, Walman, Veleno, Berggren. Good movement again, not as crips as top unit. Team Red brings back top unit for 1 minute and Gostisbehere rung the post right after the faceoff. No scoring, another goal post with 2 seconds left. No score from either unit.

Team White now on the power play for 4 minutes alternating. First Unit had Fabbri, Raymond, Petry, Compher, Copp. Good movement, kept puck in O zone for nearly the full minute. 2nd unit for team white comes out with Rasmussen, Danielson, Edvinsson, Czarnik. No score for 2nd unit. Some interesting tension between Seider and Edvinsson.
First Power Play unit returns for team White. Not a lot of extended O zone time for their second attempt. Second Unit returns, Danielson gets a nice look at 28 seconds in, a nice shot from Kasper seconds later. No scoring for any of the power play units.

Team Red returns to power play with unit 1. No score for the first unit. 2nd unit returns for Team Red. Sprong had a handful of shots, has a nice looking one timer. Still no score for any power play unit. 1st unit for team Red returns for another minute. No score. 2nd unit returns. No score and team White will get 4 more alternativing minutes.

Team White first unit steps onto the ice. No score, 2nd unit jumps on. 2 quick clears by team Red PK kills any chance to set up and no score. First Unit back on for Team White. Compher took a pass from Raymond and had a nice attempt 27 seconds in. No score still. Second unit returns for Team White. No score.

Second period showed that pk was on their game, some good movement by Team Red top unit, but not an inspiring first look of the man advantage. Keep in mind, physicality is held back a lot to avoid injury.

3rd period:

5 minutes of 4 on 4. No scoring, but a lot of activity out of Larkin, Seider and Gostisbehere. Seider had several intercepts and at least one nice steal. Ghost not afraid to rush in on offense.

5 minutes of 3 on 3 now. Soderblom scored a beauty at 25 seconds. 3-0 team Red. 55 seconds in Edvinsson had a clean 1 on 0 and finished a beauty of wrister. 3-1 team Red. At 2:41, team White struck again as Raymond capitalized on a beautiful feed courtesy of Johansson. Fabbri doing good work as the 3rd man on that line. 3-2 team Red. Berggren got one back for team Red as Maata dished a pass near the net crease and he waited out Hutchinson in net and lifted the puck over the goalie after he was down and out. 4-2 team Red.

Now to a ten man shootout:

Sprong (red) - hit the post
Raymond (white) - save
Perron(red) - hit the post
Fabbri(white) - save
Debrincat (red) - save
Compher(white) - save
Larkin(red) - save

Czarnik(white) - scores 5-4

Final - 6-4 team Red
