3) For the third time in the first four games of the regular season, SKA St. Petersburg head coach made Matvei Michkov a healthy scratch. In the one game Mickhkov was in the lineup, he only received 6:12 of ice time across 11 shifts (five first period shifts and three apiece in the other periods; all at 5-on-5). SKA lost Friday's game against Lokotiv Yaroslavl by a 3-2 score. SKA (2-2-0) returns to action on Tuesday with a home game against Spartak Moscow (2-2-0).

4) After posting a 26-save shutout on Monday, Dinamo Minsk goaltender Alexei Kolosov made 10 first-period saves -- including several tough one -- to take Friday's road game against Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod (coached by Hockey Hall of Famer Igor Larionov) with a 1-0 lead. Thereafter, the rest of the game turned into a high-scoring affair with Torpedo prevailing by a 6-4 score (0-1, 3-3, 3-0). Kolosov finished with 28 saves on 33 shots. The final Torpedo goal was an empty-netter. Dinamo (2-2-0) is on the road in the Republic of Tatarstan on Tuesday to take on Ak Bars Kazan (3-1-0).

5) The London Knights -- the OHL team of Flyers' prospects Oliver Bonk and Denver Barkey -- are in preseason action today at home against the Sarnia Sting. The same two teams played for higher stakes this past spring in the Western Conference final of the Ontario Hockey League playoffs. London prevailed in six games to advance to the Final before losing to the Peterborough Petes (who, at the team, featured Flyers prospects J.R. Avon and Brian Zanetti).

6) September 9 Flyers alumni birthdays: Len Hachborn (1961), Keith Yandle (1986).

7) Today in Flyers History: On Sept. 9, 1993, the Flyers acquired defenseman Stew Malgunas from the Detroit Red Wings for a 1995 fifth-round pick (David Arsenault).
