Avs Need to Respond in Game 2

The Avalanche were in a rough spot after game 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The newcomers in Seattle came to play, the the Av's simply didn't.

Seattle broke out in game 1 with a deep, dominant forecheck, and ex Av Phillipe Grubauer put on a solid enough display to take the first game 3-1. The Avalanche looked tired, or at least just not ready to take on another fast, relentless forechecking team. Georgiev looked human on the goals the Kraken scored, and the Avs are down 1-0 in the opening round.

That said, the sky is NOT falling. Some articles I read over the last few days stated Alexandar Georgiev; cause for concern. It was one game. Goalies are allowed to have one bad game. One just hopes that it doesn't come in an elimination game.

Nathan MacKinnon had some interesting words on the goaltending of Phillipe Grubauer.

*paraphrased*

When asked: "What did you see from Grubauer?"

MacKinnon: "Nothing. Anyone else?"

Strong words, and hopefully not bulletin board fodder for the Kraken.

Colorado was without Jack Johnson shortly before the game. I believe the plan was to sit Erik Johnson for Jack Johnson, but the latter was not ready to go. Josh Manson played in game 1, but left the morning skate early. Luckily, Jared Bednar confirmed Manson was good to go tonight.

Bednar was asked if Manson leaving practice was something that could keep him out of the lineup, and he said "No." Pretty definitive. He also did not give any updates on the status of Andrew Cogliano, Darren Helm, or Jack Johnson.

He also said he believes the team will come out stronger tonight.

A few changes to the lineup tonight, as it looks like Arturri Lehkonen will replace Val Nichushkin
on the top powerplay unit.

Lets hope the Avalanche come to play hard tonight to tie this up tonight!

GO AVS!
