Unless there is a cataclysmic failure the Seattle Kraken are going to play a playoff series this season. Unfortunately based on the recent goaltending of this team, that type of failure is possible.

This team is so good at scoring goals but they just can't seem to get out of their own way when it comes to keeping the puck out of their own net. Grubauer, Jones, it doesn't matter who is in net the results are the same.

Surprise surprise, we are starting to see this team regress in their SH% and the puck isn't going in as easily as it was a couple of months ago. For the first time this season this team is seeing teams elevating to play against them as teams around the NHL are preparing for playoff rounds or fighting to keep their hopes alive, So far I am not seeing Seattle fully match that level of intensity yet.

We may not know Seattle's opponent in the first round until the very end of the season. I think Seattle is fairly entrenched in the Wild Card position meaning they will play one of the top teams in the Pacific or Central Division. That could mean they play the Wild, or the Oilers, or Kings, or Oilers, or maybe the Stars or even the Avalanche. I have never seen such a battle at this stage in the season where there is a good argument for five or six teams to all finish first in the Conference.

Right now I hope Vegas finds a way to stay afloat as the top team in the West because I think Seattle matches up against them thee best from an offensive point and their goaltending situation is the most suspect, especially if Logan Thompson is not ready to play.

After the Ducks tonight, the Kraken play the Kings, the Coyotes three more times, the Canucks, the Hawks, and the Golden Knights twice to end the regular season. There are some highly winnable games in their against teams with nothing to play for except pride as well as some hard fought matches against potential first round opponents.

It's gonna be a fun ride.
