After their 4-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, the Cats continue their home stand tonight when a solid Vegas Golden Knights team comes to town.
VGK is 38-19-6 and atop the Pacific Division. They added veteran goalie — and CBJ legend —Jonathan Quick at this year’s trade deadline. Adding a big name goalie is sort of the Knight’s MO…
Despite being the better team on paper and in the standings, Vegas barely beat Montreal in their last tilt. Hopefully the Panthers watched the film of that game and observed what MTL did to get back into the game. VGK was up 3-0 heading into the third, but struggled to finish and put the Canadiens away. Credit to Montreal who did a good job beating Quick up high and stretching the Vegas defense to get themselves back in the game, though they couldn’t finish the job.
With the forward talent that Florida has, they should approach Vegas in the same manner. From the recap I saw, it looks like the Vegas defense gets pretty aggressive, which can put them in a spot to be beat by a stretch pass or quick move to get around them. The Panthers passing looked good on Saturday. If they carry that over to tonight, they can keep VGK homest with the threat of stretching them at any moment.
No news from Jameson Olive yet on potential line combos, etc…Bob needs to stay hot.
Florida has to keep winning at any cost to have a chance at the WC spot…Go Panthers!
