Dillon Dube is the new man of the hour, spoiling the Johnny Gaudreau show in the Saddledome. The Flames hold on to defeat the Blue Jackets, 4-3 in overtime.

Walker Duehr opened the scoring with his second career NHL goal. The first period goal was by just MacKenzie Weegar.

Nazem Kadri, my Flames player to watch, extended the lead with his 19th of the season. Nikita Zadarov had the primary assist; Andrew Magipanie had the secondary.

Columbus came back to the game midway through the second period with two goals in 49 seconds.

Kirill Marchenko is the first rookie on the team this season to get to 10 goals on the season. Johnny Gaudreau, my Columbus player to watch, and Patrik Laine got the assists on the powerplay goal.

The second powerplay goal came right after from Laine for number 14. Gaudreau and Adam Boqvist got the helpers.

Andrew Magipanie got the late second period go ahead goal for his 10th of the season for the Flames. Mikael Backlund got the lone helper.

Captain Boone Jenner evened the game early in the third period for his 13th of the season. The final Columbus goal was assisted by Laine thanks to the boards.

In overtime, the sloppy puck play led to a one timer for Dillon Dube to pot his 12th. The disher was Mangipanie.

Dan Vladar was the starting netminder for Calgary, not losing in regulation since before US Thanksgiving. Maybe he is full time during Markstrom’s struggles?

Joonas Korpisalo was the losing goalie, but did make an impressive 45 saves against the Flames.

CBJ THREE STARS OF THE GAME

1. Johnny Gaudreau -- 2 assists (33)

2. Patrik Laine -- goal (14), 2 assists (14)

3. Kirill Marchenko -- goal (10)

Reaction:

What a game on the ice and in the emotions. Calgary did everything it should. Honor him for his contributions on the ice. Cheer him for what he did. And boo him for leaving. Every
Emotion was raw and meaningful and wild.

Personally, my favorite game of the season. Checked every box in my books.

And what a filthy fight! Always a time when Milan Lucic drops the gloves with a Blue Jackets player. Olivier can throw, having 9 fights already this season. Bring them in, Olivier is right there!
