New Jersey Devils (13-3-0, 26 pts.) will take on the Toronto Maple Leafs (9-5-3, 21 pts.) in Toronto at Scotiabank Arena. Devils are 6-0-0 against Canadian-based teams and look to win eleven straight games.
Vitek Vanecek Vs. Matt Murray
Aside from the home opener loss to the Detroit Red Wings, Vitek Vanecek has been stellar throughout this season and will get the start against the Leafs. He will have his work cut out for him as Mitch Marner, John Tavares, Austin Matthews, and William Nylander will look to put the puck back into the net.
But the Devils have firepower themselves in Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, Jesper Bratt, and Dawson Mercer. Will Matt Murray stand tall against the NHL’s hottest team?
Musings and Thoughts
Last season, New Jersey was 8-5-3 through 16 games. Fast forward to this season and they have five more wins than last season. The Devils have 11 regulation wins and do not find themselves always playing catch up by the beginning of the second period. When the Devils are down, they make the adjustments. In addition, the biggest difference is the Devils have good goaltending.
