Wild Sputtering Heading Into Nashville

Tonight the Wild visit Nashville in what will be just their third divisional game of the season. Coming off Sunday's disappointing shootout loss to the Sharks the Wild need to be better prepared for a hungry Predators squad and the rabid Nashville fans.

Sunday's Wild game was disturbing for a number of reasons. It is quite obvious that the Wild lack the scoring prowess that they possessed last season and have become a one line team. Their lack of effort throughout the game Sunday, was highlighted by dismal third period collapse.

This Wild team is not at all where they should be, and the fact that they actually played the third period like they had the game wrapped up at 2-0 tells us a lot about the current makeup of the team. That game could very easily have been 2-2 or even had the Sharks ahead had a couple of bounces gone their way instead of the Wild's way through the first couple of periods.

Dean Evason insisted that certain players had insisted on playing the game east
-west and that the Wild are not good enough to play the game any other way than north-south. Those comments were primarily directed at the Kaprizov/Zuccarello/Gaudreau line.

Mason Shaw once again had a very stong game and has earned his spot on the roster full time. He has been told to find a place to live as he will not be heading back to Iowa. Shaw does not get cheated on any shift he plays. The guy simple works and makes his presence known to the opposition whenever he steps onto the ice.

Hopefully the division rival Predators and the energy of the Bridgestone Arena snap the Wild into form as they take on a Predators team that has been up and down much like the Wild through the first month of the season, but are coming off a solid 2-1 home victory over the Rangers on Saturday night.

It's always Hockey Day in The State of Hockey!
